Choose Your Circle Wisely—Your Health Depends on It
There’s an invisible but powerful force shaping your well-being every single day:
👉 The people you surround yourself with.
As a holistic health coach, I often remind my clients that true health is multidimensional. It’s not just about food, workouts, or supplements—it’s also about your emotional ecosystem. And guess what? It’s now backed by neuroscience.
Your Brain Syncs with the People Around You
Have you ever felt instantly “in tune” with someone? Like you didn’t need to explain yourself—they just got you?
That’s not just emotional—it’s neurological.
Science calls it neurosynchrony: when your brain waves literally sync with another person’s during a shared moment or conversation. It happens most often with people you’re emotionally close to—like best friends, supportive partners, or aligned peers.
🧠 Studies show that people in strong, healthy relationships tend to mirror each other’s brain activity—especially when they’re emotionally connected, making decisions together, or even watching the same movie.
This means:
-
You can feel seen, safe, and connected on a brain level
-
You can co-regulate your nervous systems, lowering stress and boosting clarity
-
You can fuel creativity, motivation, and healing through the right kind of connection
Who’s in Your Circle? It Matters.
Your inner circle affects how you:
-
Think (mindset, beliefs, decisions)
-
Feel (emotional safety, joy, or stress)
-
Heal (nervous system regulation, trust, confidence)
-
Grow (opportunities, inspiration, motivation)
Your body and brain feel the difference between being nurtured vs. being neglected—even if your conscious mind hasn’t caught up yet.
Supportive Relationships Nourish You
Today, I’m incredibly lucky to be in a deeply supportive relationship. We uplift each other, listen with intention, and celebrate one another’s growth. We laugh often, grow through challenges, and feel emotionally safe together.
But I’ve also experienced the opposite—relationships that were draining, critical, or emotionally unsafe. Ones that left me questioning my worth or overthinking every step. That contrast taught me a powerful truth:
When you’re in a healthy relationship, you expand. In a toxic one, you shrink.
Not All Connections Are Meant to Be Kept
Sometimes, the most draining relationships come from people we feel obligated to keep—friends, coworkers, or even family. You may feel stuck or trapped in an unhealthy dynamic, but you are never required to stay where your peace is constantly disturbed.
Don’t feel guilty for protecting your energy. Especially when someone continues to disrespect your boundaries, it’s not only okay—it’s essential—to walk away.
Some people are emotional vampires. They leave you feeling depleted, exhausted, and unsure of yourself. And if you’ve ever experienced that kind of connection, you know how much it can affect your physical and emotional well-being.
This Is Part of Health Coaching, Too
As a holistic health coach, I help clients:
-
Recognize draining vs. nourishing relationships
-
Set boundaries that feel empowering
-
Heal old patterns of self-abandonment
-
Attract people who reflect the version of themselves they’re becoming
Because health isn’t just what you’re doing—it’s also who you’re doing it with.
You Deserve Relationships That Feel Like Home
So take a moment and ask:
-
Who lifts me up and makes me feel seen?
-
Who drains my energy or makes me doubt myself?
-
Am I surrounding myself with people who align with the life I want to live?
Your circle doesn’t have to be big—but it does need to be intentional.
Because the people you allow into your space… shape your energy, your identity, and your joy.
Choose wisely.
With love and clarity,
Lia
